Harry Potter Film

This is a film Poster for the new Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows(left). The poster can be seen advertising the film on the sides of busses, on the underground, on billboards and in many other public places.
The poster is advertising the film in a much different way than the other Harry Potter films. The poster shows the new film as being more of an action-packed, adventure film rather than a magical childrens story. This is shown by themais en scene which shows harry as being quite dark and serious, the lighting is dim and the colours used for the poster are sinister black, blue, grey colours, but with speckles of red across the bottomwhich gives the impression of blood, this makes it seem like the new film may contain voilence which makes it not so much a film for small children anymore but instead a film that is to be mainly enjoyed by older children and even adults.
The setting is cloudy and stormy giving the idea of danger and excitement, adding to the idea that the new Harry Potter Film will be more sinister and thus more interesting and exciting; appealing to a wider audience than before. The text shown on the poster is minimalistic but it gives all the vital information; it describes the film as HP7 Part 1, this shows that it is only the first film meaning that it will lead on to a next one. It calls the film HP7 and if you are already a fan of harry potter you will know tha the HP stands for Harry Potter and even if you are not a fan you are already expected to at least know of Harry Potter due to the many other forms of marketing, and about the previouse films thus figuring out the style of poster and actor (plus the fact he is holding a wand) and coming to the conclusion that it is the new harry potter film withought it actually telling you.
The poster also includes th date it will come out, as well as a small statement written on the poster saying Nowhere is safe in order to excite the target audience into seeing the film with the idea that the film will push the boundaries of becoming a thriller rather than fitting its original steriotype of being a magical childrens story.
